Measure words per minute using a short randomized passage. Type the shown text exactly; the timer starts with the first character.
How the score is calculated
WPM uses the five-character convention: correctly typed characters divided by five, then divided by elapsed minutes. Accuracy is reported separately.
Measurement limits
Typing speed should be read together with accuracy: correcting a large number of errors can make a high gross WPM misleading. Keep normal capitalization and punctuation habits instead of memorizing the sample. Compare several passages so familiarity with one text does not become the main reason for improvement.
