How the test works

Estimate actions per minute from valid keyboard and mouse actions. Perform deliberate key presses and clicks; held-key repeats are filtered.

02

How the score is calculated

APM equals accepted keyboard or primary-pointer actions divided by elapsed minutes.

03

Measurement limits

APM combines different actions into a per-minute pace, so it is broader than a single-key or CPS test. Consistent key and mouse actions matter more than exploiting one repeated input. Use the same mode length when comparing sessions, because very short runs can inflate a projected actions-per-minute value.
