How the test works
Measure how quickly you can press the spacebar. Press Space repeatedly after the first press starts the timer.
How the score is calculated
KPS equals accepted non-repeat key presses divided by measured seconds. Automatic key-repeat events are ignored.
Measurement limits
The spacebar test isolates one large keyboard key, making it useful for comparing tapping technique or checking whether repeated presses register cleanly. Key travel, stabilizers and keyboard scan rate can affect the rhythm. Do not compare mechanical and laptop keyboards as if the hardware conditions were identical.
Sources and editorial notes
The method uses Pointer Events, Keyboard Events and the monotonic Performance API clock. Content is reviewed by CPS-TEST.ONLINE editors.
