Fair comparison requires the same metric, mode, device class and enough repeated attempts.
Match the mode
Do not compare a 1-second CPS spike with a 60-second endurance result or a phone tap score with a mouse score.
Prefer distributions
Look at median, best result and stability over a session. One maximum value hides normal variability.
Check verification
Leaderboard entries can be flagged when timing is impossible or unnaturally uniform. A flag means review, not automatic guilt.
